Ostrich dinner photo on Vox
June 27, 2006
I tried to post this picture of my Ostrich dinner on Blankbaby, but it didn't work for some reason, so I posted it over on my Vox blog.
Was it good? It was very, very good. I ordered it and the waiter asked me, "How would you like it done?" I paused, looked him in the eye and said, "How should ostrich be done?" The answer? Medium rare.
TED Talks
June 27, 2006
TED, a very high profile, invite only conference (plus it is very pricey) has just launched TED Talks. What is TED Talks? Why, videos of some of the speakers' presentations from the most recent TED conference.
Speakers featured on TED Talks include:
Oh, and some of you *cough* Ryan *cough* might be interested to know that the videos are presented in glorious Flash video (and the entire website is written in ColdFusion).
Here's your chance to seem some great speakers from a great conference for free.

6 years
June 22, 2006
A lot can happen in 6 years, and a lot has happened in my life over the last 6 years. Why am I thinking about the last 6 years on this hot Philadelphia night?
6 years ago on June 21st, 2000 I wrote my first blog entry. My little old Diaryland site doesn't look much like a blog but I posted on it regularly and other people linked to it so it counts to me.
Did the 23 year old me know what he was starting when he wrote that entry about (what else?) himself? I can tell you that I never imagined how writing on the web would change my life (and all for the better).
Here's a few of the changes that have happened to me over the last 6 years:
- I no longer work at Columbia Business School.
- I no longer live in NY.
- I am no longer in a relationship with Elisa (but she still reads Blankbaby, hi!).
- I have more gray hair and I've gained weight (and I wasn't thin in 2000).
- I'm much happier.
- I have many more friends.
- I like my job.
- I get paid to blog!
All in all, not too shabby for 6 years work. I wonder what the next 6 years hold for me? Life makes no guarantees, but I am sure I will be blogging about whatever situations I find myself in.
Blogging, what a trip!

What would you, my dear readers, like to see in a new Blankbaby layout?
I feel like asparagus tomorrow
June 19, 2006
While I was out picking up my share from the CSA (which I'll post more about tomorrow) I bought myself some asparagus. Now, there is a rumor out there that I don't like vegetables. Nothing could be further from the truth; I love veggies. I can do without fruit.
Anywho, I got some asparagus which I am going to make for dinner tomorrow (probably tonight by the time anyone reads this). I am leaning towards making this asparagus pasta salad. I can't wait.

Check out my blog on Vox. Methinks I'll fool around with it for awhile and see if I like it. So far it is pretty cool.
If you want to try out Vox let me know and I'll invite ya.

New toothbrush wisdom
June 18, 2006
Here's a little gem that I thought I would share with you, dear readers. There has been a little excitement today at Blankbaby Manor for I declared today a day of epic proportions: new toothbrush day!
That's right, I bought a brand spanking new toothbrush today. I know what you're thinking, 'Gosh, Scott, I'd sure like a new toothbrush myself but I don't want to make an expenditure of that magnitude without knowing if my current toothbrush actually needs replacing. I have heard too many stories of toothbrush related bankruptcy to purchase such an item willy nilly.'
You're right to be cautious when considering a new toothbrush, however, I have developed this handy rule of thumb: if you can't remember the last time you replaced your toothbrush it is time to get a new one.
You're welcome.
I'm old
June 18, 2006
I just realized (as I spent most my time today sans glasses) that I can hardly read without my glasses. I'm not having too much trouble reading off this screen (which is less than a foot away from my huge Irish head) but I can't make out what the Comcast guide says on my TV.
Gray hair?
Check.
Can't see without glasses?
Check.
Don't get the kids' music?
Check.
Where's my soup?
