Why Geeks and Nerds Are Worth It…

20siderI don’t know if I should be heartened or offended by the Why Geeks and Nerds Are Worth It… post on Craigslist. On the one hand this is a fairly impassioned plea to ‘give geeks a chance,’ however it the main benefit, so it seems, from dating a geek is that you can be sure they aren’t looking at someone else because.. they’re geeks.

As we all know, I’m a geek but I like art, the theater, museums, and strolls on the beach (ok, not so much the last one. I burn easily). I am not a stereotype!

Sure, I like Star Trek, computers, and technology in general, however I respect women not because I am a geek but because I’m a nice guy.

Is that so wrong?

  1. I think most women are already in on the geek allure and have been for quite a while. One of my friends married a geek that she met in high school. They’re 37 now, so I think this craig’s list revelation might be about 20 years after the fact.
Didn’t mean to rain on your parade or anything…;)
