Earlier today, at work, I said to Bob, ‘Hey, I’m not MacGyver’ in response to his surprise that I couldn’t figure out a way to keep my blinds up.
It is true that I am no MacGyver, but when I was a kid MacGyver was my favorite television show (even surpassing Star Trek for a brief time). Every night that it was on I would watch it with my mother, and I was a happy boy. Years later my mother confessed that she never liked MacGyver but she watched it because I enjoyed it so much. That’s a mother for you!
And now the first season of MacGyver is available on DVD. I am tempted, but when I watch it every so often on TVLand, I don’t enjoy it as much as I did when I was a youngster.
I suppose it is true what they say, life is all about the tough decisions. And 80’s tv.

It doesn’t hold up. That’s the problem with it. It was awesome when we were 10, but now it looks absolutely dreadful. However my attachment to Richard Dean Anderson has held up, and know I watch one of the neardiest shows on TV today… Stargate SG-1.
I love Richard Dean Anderson and SG-1. But, when I see these old episodes of macGuyver, I am so embarrased for his hair and how the show devolved into endless tree hugging orgies after a while. I’d still buy these in a second, though.
I am still waffling on whether I should buy it or not. I am thinking maybe I will just start buying the Star Trek DVD’s.
My life is tough.
