As some of you may or may not know I am now working at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and I am not longer employed by Columbia Business School. This is all part of my clever plan to travel the country by working my way through the top business schools of the land.
Actually I had been trying to move to PA for a while to be closer to the Lovely Elisa, and it just wasn’t working out. I have heard stories of people who pack up their belongings, grab a stick, put all said belongings in a canvas bag and attach it to the aforementioned stick and move to an entirely different area with the wind to their backs and the road under their feet. Emboldened by youthful vigor and an appetite to succeed, the world is their oyster. You can’t stop them from rising to the top, by gosh they are going to make it whether or not the Man approves.
These people usually end up dead 15 feet from their former home with a look of hopeless shock on their faces and Birkenstocks on their feet.
Needless to say, I am not one of those people. I refused to move unless I had a job waiting for me. And not just any job, no sir! A job in IT at an institute of Higher Education, preferably an Ivy League School, but that was negotiable.
Long story short I got a job here at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and I couldnt be happier. Well I suppose I would be a little happier if they paid me NOT to come into work, but that isnt going to happen. Yet.
So now I am a Philadelphian, like Benjamin Franklin and William Penn. Sidenote: Everything here is named after one or the other of the previously mentioned gentlemen. It is difficult to get directions because invariably you will be turning off of Franklin Ave onto Franklin Street to get to Franklin Boulevard.
