Matt responds to my post about Katrina, and I had a feeling he would. I'm glad he did because he is both passionate and thoughtful in his opinions. He didn't just say, 'You're a moron and you don't understand the situation,' as others might. I recommend you check out what he has to say about my thoughts (here's the Cliffnotes version, he doesn't agree with me), and read his blog, the Tattered Coat, if you don't already. It is focused on politics of the left variety, but it is well written, well thought out, and it is even funny. Sometimes.
Plus he is doing a great job of gathering information about the Aftermath of Katrina.
Anyway, I didn't write this post to call Matt out, or challenge him to a duel (I'm too pretty to die), I am writing this entry to share some quote from good old Tommy Jefferson that I dug up and used in my response to Matt. I thought they were good enough to share with everyone, not just though obsessed enough with Blankbaby to read the comments.
Here they are:
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.
If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without, we must try to extinguish it.
A little rebellion now and then...is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government.
Full disclosure: if I had to put together my 'Dream Team' for the doubles table tennis (that's ping pong to you and me) tournament team from the Founding Fathers I would pick Franklin and Jefferson, so take this post for what it is.
