Ok, so when nothing else is on I watch MTV. Why do I do this? It just angers me.
Most of their shows revolve around teenagers and the associated angst. During my teens there were a few rough patches. My parents got divorced right before my freshmen year at a very competitive highschool. Once I got to highschool I realized that I would actually to do work! The nerve. And I actually failed a test! That was an eye opener (and let's not talk about Spanish).
So I was an unhappy camper there for awhile, but it had nothing to do with my relative social standing.
Each person in MTV's 'reality' shows seems to be obsessed with what others think of them. The girl on 'Made' (which I am watching now) wants to learn to play basketball so people she doesn't like (the so called Jocks) will like her. On 'My Super Sweet 16,' another girl had a overblown sweet 16 party to make her friends jealous. Why would you want to make your friends jealous? Shouldn't you want to have a party to have fun with your friends?
I don't get it, folks. I do have to keep in mind that I am not now, nor have I ever been, a teenaged girl, however the guys on these shows are the same way.
