The Little Professor has some Advice to Graduate Students on the Fine Art of Buying Books (Prompted by Several Hours of Moving Books Around), all very sound from my limited experience.
I think that I was destined to be an English prof, but it seems everyone and their mother has a PhD in English and the market is not what one would call 'good.'
Anyway, the Little Professor has a whole cagetory called This Week's Acquisitions.
And this recent post we find out that she has 5,000 books, and several sub-par bookcases.
When I am able to purchase a home, either by myself or with a lovely woman, I will be adamant that I will need a den/library with dark wood and built in bookcases (which I can hire someone to build for me after I purchase the house). I will not change my stance on this, so ladies, if you're thinking of buying a house with me, keep that in mind.
