Wireless Wonder

Ahh the wonders of the Wireless Age. I am posting while I a, on the train speeding my way to Philadelphia where I am going to sign the lease for my new apartment!

I am very excited about the move but I think it might have been wiser to make this thursday my last day at work giving me a full day to prep for the move. Alas it is not meant to be, and I am moving in the way that I do most things, with little planning.

Philly Apartment

Not that this is of great importance to anyone other than me, but then of course nothing on this site is! I got an apartment in Philadelphia on Saturday!

It is near Rittenhouse Square in Center City and near my new job (a 15 - 20 minute walk). I am very excited, however, I am NOT excited to move my stuff up 4 flights of stairs.

Microserfs

I just finished reading Microserfs by Douglas Coupland. I am not a huge fan of his, but I have read several of his books, and I can say without a doubt that this was one of them.

On an unrelated note, tomorrow I go to Philadelphia to look at apartments, 10 apartments in fact. I hope that I find one I like enough to live in and be done with that, so I can start planning the move.

Wish me luck!

People Read this? I don't think so...

Jason thinks I have readers. Poor, poor foolish man. And on top of that he ponders whether or not they will appreciate my writing, poor and infrequent though it may be (I added that last bit).

If you have any sense you will read about Jason's life, I mean he is in Scotland studying writing for goodness sake! I am in NY, about to move to PA to do... well to do geeky stuff like maintain servers and get my PHD (at least I hope to at any rate).

Taking a stand on the red Carpet

In this story on CNN, actor Daniel Day-Lewis had this to say:

"If we do choose to celebrate this thing, ... we've got to think about how we can do that in a way that is respective of what's going on. It would seem kind of obscene if we were there trouncing up the red carpet grinning and waving and people were dying somewhere in the world."

I happen to agree with him, however, I am willing to bet that no matter when, or where someone is 'trouncing' down a red carpet, people are dying in the world. Just a thought I had.

Yogurt and Freaky Tissues

I am sitting here at work, enjoying a fine yogurt. I finish the yogurt and toss the container in the trash. Well, that was the plan, but I missed. The container that I thought was empty proceeded to get yogurt on the floor, my trash can, and a computer. I had to clean this mess up.

So I reached for my box of white KLEENEX. I ripped two out, wiped off the computer and discarded the tissues. I then proceeded to get two more tissues to whip up the yogurt from the floor. That is when it happened. I got the two white tissues out, but the tissue that is sticking out of the box isn't white, it is pinkish cream or something. After a little investigating I find that all the remaining tissues are of this decidedly not white hue. The kicker is that there are only a few of these differently pigmented tissues. Can it be that KLEENEX, in order to serve their customers better have implemented a system of different colored tissues so that you know when you are reaching the bottom of the box?

If so, I say kudos to them! If not, why the heck did I get the freakish box of tissues?
